WILL MARTIN ODEGAARD SIGN FOR ARSENAL PERMANENTLY?

Arsenal pulled off one of the major transfer businesses of the summer after they confirmed they have agreed a deal with Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid for the loan transfer of brilliant young midfielder Martin Odegaard till the end of the season. That piece of announcement sent Arsenal fans wild and also further explained the Gunners’ new transfer policy of recruiting young talents who have full interest in playing for the club.

Odegaard left Real Madrid for yet another season after spending the entirety of last campaign at Real Sociedad where he played some beautiful football that earned him some transfer interests from top European clubs. He was a baller at Sociedad and sparked a lot of debate among Real Madrid fans who questioned Zinedine Zidane’s insistence if not playing the Norwegian midfielder for the Los Blancos.

Since signing for Arsenal, Odegaard has not quite made the impression that was expected of him upon putting pen to paper on his contract. His performances have come short of what he did last season and there have been fears and concerns raised as to whether he can actually meet up with those expectations before the season runs out.

There have also been fresh concerns raised about whether the 21-year-old midfielder will agree to sign for Arsenal on a permanent basis at the end of the season or return to his parent club Real Madrid instead. Despite having spoken of his admiration for Arsenal, Odegaard has always expressed his desire of wanting to be a starter at Real Madrid and even once said he would give anything to achieve his desire.

But with regular first-team football still a bit far away, he could well concede the thought of choosing Arsenal over his boyhood club. But it remains to be seen what happens in the summer.
