Football transfers expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal are expected to return with a bid for French midfielder HoussemAouar when the transfer window opens in January. Before the closure of last summer’s transfer window, Arsenal made several attempts to sign the midfielder but there was no success.
Due to the failure to arrive at an agreement with French club Lyon for the transfer of the player last summer, the Gunners opted to go for a more feasible option in Thomas Partey. The former Atletico Madrid man left the Spanish club to join Arsenal on deadline day and is still trying to find his feet in the Premier League.
Partey’s addition boosted the Gunners’ midfield options under the weaponry of manager Mikel Arteta but with his last signing of the last transfer window, Romano expects the Spanish manager to go into the market for new recruitment in Aouar.
Arsenal are currently struggling in their attacking department, failing to break down teams despite enjoying a large chunk of ball possession this season. While some believe outcast Mesut Ozil should be recalled into the team as a result of their attacking weakness, others think the signing of Aouar would be a better option.
Romano said he thinks Arsenal will try yet again to seal a deal for the France midfielder, as he would be a top addition to the midfield department.
Romano however said that a deciding factor in the deal taking place is what update Arsenal get from trying to sign their first option, Dominik Szoboszlai from Red Bull Salzburg. The midfielder is also on the wish-list of the Gunners and is their first choice. Should a deal for the RB Salzburg player collapse, then the next option to try out is Aouar.
