Manchester United have reportedly placed a £43.2m price tag on Anthony Martial’s head amid the ongoing speculation over his future. The France international has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho since Alexis Sanchez’s arrival in January, and this has supposedly linked with a fresh challenge elsewhere during the summer.
As per the report, Martial could be available for a relatively affordable sum of around £43.2m, and this is likely to attract interest from Juventus, who have already made initial contact with the player’s representatives. Aside from Juventus, Martial is also understood to be of interest to Bayern Munich, who are currently going through a transition phase.
The German champions are likely to part ways with both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in the near future, and this has increased their urgency for a new wideman, who can seamlessly integrate into the club’s plans. Martial has had a good season with United after contributing 21 goals and assists this term, but he has nevertheless criticism from the fans for his recent lack of impact.
Unlike the likes of Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford, Martial has struggled to present himself with a strong performance since Sanchez’s arrival, and this has not gone well with the club’s supporters. Martial is current in direct competition with Sanchez for the left-wing role, and his inability to play efficiently on the other flank seems to have hampered his chances of regular gametime. Martial has started just two league games since January 31.
